                                                    DEVOTIONALS #6

Using your talent for God.

Matthew 25:14-30  Parable of the Bags of Gold (or talents)

A man was going on a journey and he entrusted some of his wealth to his servants.  To the one he gave 5 bags of gold, to another two bags and to another one bag, each according to his ability.

When he returned, the one with 5 bags of gold doubled it to 10. The one given 2 bags double it to 4.  The one given only one bag dug a hole to keep the money safe out of fear, and then returned to same bag back to the master.

The master replied to the first two, "Well done good and faithful servants.  Come and share in my happiness." To the one who hid the gold in the ground he said, "You wicked lazy servant.  You should have a least put my money in the bank so I could recieve some  interest (or profit).  Then he took the bag of gold and gave it to the one who had 10.

It is important to use whatever we have whether big or small.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS/THOUGHTS

  1. What are your special talents?
  2. What are your special character qualities? (kind, funny etc.)
  3. How can you use your talent in sports and your other special qualities to honor God?

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

Even if you don’t think you have a lot of talent right now, figure out how to make the most of what you have to help your team and honor God.

Ex. You may not be the leading scorer, but you can be the leading encourager.
